UPEC was established to provide an extended learning experience for AIEP students.  We believe that improving your English and communication skills requires learning in and out of the classroom.

Who can Join UPEC?

At this time, only former and current students of the American Institute for English Proficiency (AIEP) can join.  Why not enroll, get formal classroom training with the awesome Specialists? After that, you can join our English club.

How to Join UPEC?

You may complete this online form and one of the awesome officers will contact you.  How much?  It’s only PHP 500, which is good for an entire year.  For all benefits that you get in a year, that’s such an affordable membership fee, isn’t it?

ABOUT THE ENGLISH CLUB

Constitution of the United Professionals for English and Communications (UPEC)

PREAMBLE:

We the educators and students of the English language, in order to enhance our speech and communication skills, improve our critical thinking abilities, and develop our self-confidence to empower ourselves and everyone around us, do establish this Constitution for the UNITED PROFESSIONALS FOR ENGLISH AND COMMUNICATIONS (UPEC) under the guidance and direction of the American Institute for English Proficiency. 

Article I: Name of the Organization
Section 1: This organization shall be known as the UNITED PROFESSIONALS FOR ENGLISH AND COMMUNICATION using the acronym UPEC.  

Article II: Purpose of the Organization
Section 1: The primary purpose of this organization is to create a friendly and inviting atmosphere for all individuals, national and foreign, seeking to improve their English language skills.
Section 2: The secondary purpose of this organization is to help improve the community through educational and socio-civic activities.
Section 3: The tertiary purpose of this organization is to appeal to prospective students/clients and other individuals who show interest in the study of various aspects of English.

Article III: Membership
Section 1: All individuals, national or foreign, who are considered to be adults (18 years of age and above) who are former or current AIEP students (in good standing) are qualified for membership.
Section 2: Membership is acquired by maintaining a desire to belong to the organization and investing in the membership fee of PHP 500. 
Section 3: Membership is maintained through attendance of at least five organization meetings or activities in a year.
Section 4: There shall be no discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, creed, sex, national origin, age, disability, and sexual orientation.

Article IV: Officers
Section 1: Executive Officers shall consist of a President, Executive Vice-President, VP of Education, VP or Community Service, VP of Social Activities, VP of Marketing, Secretary, and Treasurer.
Section 2: Committee Chairpersons shall be appointed or elected as need arises.
Section 3: The term of office is one year (12 month period) in which the new officers will assume position on August 20, 2021.

Constitution of the United Professionals for English and Communications (UPEC)

Section 4: Elections will be held in June by the general membership.
Section 5:  A simple voice nomination suffices to offer a candidate for nomination for any position. A consensus or majority vote will suffice to elect the nominated individual.
Section 6: A member is entitled to vote by having attended five meetings to obtain membership and must have attended the previous meeting prior to the vote.
Section 7: If an officer (excluding the president) is unable to fulfill his/her duties for the designated term, vacancies shall be filled by a special election to be held at the next scheduled club meeting.
Section 8: If the president is unable to fulfill his/her duties for the designated term, the vice president will become the new president, and there shall be a special election to be held for vice presidency at the next scheduled club meeting.

Article V: Executive Committee (Governing Board)
Section 1: The Executive Committee shall consist of the founding partners of American Institute for English Proficiency (AIEP) or a representative designated by AIEP.
Section 2: Any minor business referred to the Executive Committee may be resolved through simple discussion with the general membership and the reaching of a consensus (general agreement) regarding the matter.
Section 3: Major business, or minor business where a consensus cannot be reached, is referred to the Executive Committee where a majority vote will pass any business.
Section 4: In the event of a tie vote, the General Manager of AIEP will cast the deciding vote.
Section 5: All financial transactions involving Php 5000 to Php 9,999 must be approved by any member of the Executive Committee; all financial transactions involving Php 10,000 to Php 19,999 or more must be approved by the General Manager of AIEP; all financial transactions involving Php 20,000 or more must be approved by the owners of the American Institute for English Proficiency, Christopher R. Delacruz and Paulo Magbuhos.

Article VI: Meetings
Section 1: Meetings shall be held every second and fourth Saturday of the month, unless designated otherwise by the officers.

Article VII: Amending the Constitution
Section 1:  Only the executive committee can amend the Constitution.  Suggestions for amendment can be sent to the executive committee.
